Jonathan Powers’ Fulling Mill on Newfound River Falls, Bristol, New Hampshire

William Thompson Powers played among the falls and rapids that surrounded his father Jonathan’s cloth fulling mill on Central Street along the Newfound River, Bristol, New Hampshire until the family removed to Lansingburgh, New York when he was six in 1826.

William T. would spend the next 21 years in Lansingburgh/Troy, New York until June 1847 when he, his wife Louisa (Hall) and son, William Henry Powers make their way to Grand Rapids, Michigan via the Erie Canal.
